FP Technician

Course – Basic professional training of fire protection technicians (OHS) is carried out pursuant to Section 11 of Act No. 314/2001 on fire protection, as amended, within the scope of at least 120 hours.

The aim of the basic professional training of fire protection technicians is to obtain theoretical knowledge, practical skills and application procedures that are required for the performance of a fire protection technician (fire technician) position.

Finally, the participant receives a certificate on participating in basic professional training of fire protection technician, which must be submitted to the examination committee at the respective regional directorate of the Fire and Rescue Brigade.

Verification of professional competence of a fire protection technician (information from www.minv.sk)

Verification of professional competence for a fire technician may be attended by a natural person who has completed the professional training of fire protection technician to a specific extent, no later than 6 months of the end of the professional training. Participation on the professional training is demonstrated by the certificate on participating in professional training. The certificate on participating in professional training for a fire protection technician is valid for 18 months of the end of the professional training.

If the fire protection technician completes the professional training and requests for verification of professional competence during the validity of the certificate, for the purposes of verification, such technician is considered to be a person with professional competence even after the termination of validity of the certificate, but maximum for 12 months from the date of submitting the request for verification of professional competence.

A natural person with professional competence of a fire protection technician subjects to regular verification of professional competence once per five years after completing the refresher professional training. 

The validity of the certificate of professional competence of a fire protection technician after obtaining the professional competence for the third time, provided that such technician has carried out the activities of a fire protection technician at least for ten successive years, is without time limitation; the time period of ten successive years also includes the period when the natural person was deemed to be a person with professional competence for the purpose of verification of professional competence.
